In 2005, due to a higher demand for the bus services in the Pambula Beach, Merimbula and Tura Beach areas, Deane’s Buslines South Coast relocated to a purpose-built, environmentally-friendly depot at South Pambula.
Features of the new depot include a fully automatic bus wash which recycles 98% of the water used at the site, as well as water tanks with a capacity of 100,000 litres to capture rain water. These tanks provide all the water necessary for the property and since 2005 the company has never needed to access tank water, even during drought periods.
Other features of the new depot include a fully-bunded above-ground 20,000 litre fuel tank that is equipped with an Eco Stop system. In the event of a catastrophic fuel spill the Eco Stop ensures the spelt fuel does not enter the stormwater system, thus protecting the environment.
The facility also includes a modern workshop and office complex.
SCB executes an Environmental Management System that ensures ongoing environmental performance training and education to employees to minimise SCB’s impact on the environment. Our Environmental Protection System can be viewed upon request.
The facility has been built with a long-term plan to expand the business and also houses staff and services for Sapphire Coast Buslines’ affiliated travel agency SoulQuest Travel.
