Day 1: (LD) HOME TO TRARALGON Monday 12th October 2026
Welcome to our wonderful Silo Art Trail Tour. Silo Art isn’t just a beautiful addition to the local landscape but for many towns and communities it is a lifetime, helping to promote touring in regional Australia. With our fantastic Sapphire Explorers crew and fellow travellers on board, we begin our tour. Stopping in Bairnsdale we enjoy lunch at The Grand Terminus Hotel. The town has some beautiful architecture such as the striking Court House in Nicholson Street. Opened in 1894, it is recognised as one of Victoria’s finishes explants of late 19th century architecture and is considered of some significance to the development of an Australian style. We visit Saint Mary’s Catholic Church to see the murals on the ceilings and walls of the church which are quite stunning! From here we continue to our overnight accommodation in Traralgon.

Day 2: (BLD) TRARALGON TO HORSHAM Tuesday 13th October 2026
We have a travel day ahead as we pass Melbourne and arrive in Ballarat to enjoy a delicious lunch at the Ballarat Golf Club. From here we continue to Seppelt Winery for a wine tasting. From cool Grampians country to the wild Henty hinterland, the cellar door showcases the unique personalities of some of Victoria’s finest vineyards. Nearby is Horsham, our destination. Known as the capital of the Wimmera, it is the gateway to the Silo Art Trail and Grampians National Park. We have some time to unpack and freshen up before dinner in the onsite restaurant.

Day 3: (BLD) SILO ART Wednesday 14th October 2026
Linking towns across the Wimmera Mallee region, today we discover the Silo Art Tail. Be amazed by a series of large-scale mural portraits painted onto huge grain silos. Our first silo is in Brim, painted by Guido van Helten. This was the first silo artwork to appear in Victoria. It depicts an anonymous, multigenerational quartet of female and male farmers. It was this silo that created a movement in the region and inspired the establishment of the trail. We continue to the silo in Rosebery. The artist Kaff-eine celebrates the resilience and fortitude of the local farming community and pays homage to the enduring connection between the land and its people. In Hopetoun take a look at the large and colourful wall mural in the centre of town depicting aspects of local history and the memorial fountain erected in 1929. After lunch at Hopetoun Community Hotel we travel via Woomelang, we see some local street art before stopping in Lascelles, where the silo was created to capture the true essence of the town by depicting a local farming couple, Geoff and Merrilyn Horman. They are part of a family that has lived and farmed in the area for four generations.

Day 4: (BLD) GRAMPIANS Thursday 15th October 2026
Today we explore Grampians National Park. Witness some of the best lookouts such as Boroka Lookout and Reeds Lookout – both with sensational views. Next, visit MacKenzie Falls, the most iconic and spectacular waterfall in the National Park. See the beauty and power of the Falls from a variety of lookouts and walks that cater to a range of abilities. Meandering across the western side of the park, we enjoy a late lunch at The Wander Inn before returning to Horsham.

Day 5: (BD) LOCAL TOURING AND SILO ART Friday 16th October 2026
Today we continue to discover the Silo Art Trail. Our first silo today in Sheep Hills was painted by Melbourne based artist Matt Adnate. The indigenous themed mural represents the passing of knowledge from generation to generation. You’ll be amazed by the colours and sheer splendour of this silo. In St Arnaud, Ktorney Art aka Kyle Torney not only paint an adjacent pair of steel grain storage silos, titled “Hope”, he also created a number street art murals around town that we will see today. We travel to Rupanyup where the first artwork was completed by Russian street artist Julia Volchkova, celebrating the people of the region. The original artwork faded after years of exposure to the elements so artist SMUG of Juddy Roller commenced new artwork in 2025. The new artwork depicts the surrounding farmland landscape in vibrant harvest time colours. We step away from the silos and into some local history as we arrive in Murtoa for a fascinating visit to The Stick Shed. It is the only remaining emergency grain store built during World War Two and is an enduring testament to Australian bush ingenuity and a symbol of the growth and strength of the Australian wheat industry. We return to Horsham for time at leisure this afternoon.

Day 6: (BLD) HORSHAM TO ALBURY Saturday 17th October 2026
We say goodbye to our wonderful hosts in Horsham as we have a day on the coach. We arrive in Echuca, home of the Port of Echuca and Wharf which is recognised as one of Australia’s finest heritage icons. After lunch at the Bakery we board the PS Pevensey for a cruise along the majestic Murray River. From here we continue to Albury for our final night on tour together.

Day 7: (B) ALBURY TO HOME Sunday 18th October 2026
With our bags packed full of memories we begin our journey home. Watch the scenery roll by as we pass the morning reminiscing about the highlights of our trip. We stop for breaks including time to purchase lunch before arriving home later afternoon from an incredible tour.
