Spend a day visiting the historic attractions and landmarks in the heart of the Platypus country! A perfect tour for anyone who loves gardens, passionate historians or just people who love stories about old buildings!
The maximum number for the tour is 30 people. We do require a minimum number of 20 people for the tour to proceed.   Bookings are pending request and you will be notified via email or phone to confirm the booking and make payment.

 

 

Description

Burnima Historic Homestead was built in 1896 and offers a traditional, vintage-style tour full of fun.

You will step back in time as you take a guided tour with the owner of the magnificent Burnima historic homestead, an 1890’s Victorian Time Capsules and it’s 120 year old 6 acre garden. It has also been known to attract ‘Ghosts’, therefore it is perfect for anyone who is fascinated by Ghosts or is a ‘Ghost-hunter!

The day tour also includes a visit to the Bombala Platypus Reserve where you can have fun spotting these delightful creatures and a guided tour of the main street of Bombala to learn stories about the historic buildings.

You will enjoy a demonstration of the distillation of essential oils at Lavender House and time for an intriguing wander through the Bombala Engine Shed, Lavender House Museum & the Platypus Country Information Centre where you can purchase gifts & souvenirs. Lunch and Afternoon Tea is included.

Tour Itinerary

10.00am – 11.30am Guide tour of Burnima Homestead
11.45am Visit the Bombala Platypus Reserve & have fun spotting these delightful creatures. Don’t forget your cameras.

Your guide will be there to provide brochures & to advise on the best ways to view them.

12.15pm Lunch at the Gazebo – supplied by Sapphire Coast Bus Lines
12.45pm End lunch & take a casual walk down the main street of Bombala.

Your guide will describe the history of the buildings & is happy to answer any questions you may have.

Please feel free to pop into any of our lovely stores along the way.

 

1.15pm Meet at the swimming pool carpark (Therry Street) & board the coach to Railway Park, or just a short walk with your guide.
1.30pm Enjoy a fascinating display on the distillation of essential oils.

The region is known for it’s wonderful Lavender & other plant products. You will find them available for sale at our Visitors Centre

2.15pm Time for an interesting wander through the Bombala Engine Shed, Lavender House Museum & the Platypus Country Information Centre where you can purchase gifts & souvenirs.

Once again, your guide will be on hand to help in any way.

We will also be hosting a delicious afternoon tea for your enjoyment before you head back to the coast.
