Tour Highlights
Come and join the team at Macenmist Black Truffles & Wines for your ultimate truffle and wine experience.
Macenmist is nestled along the riparian corridor of the Cappanana Creek. It is a farming oasis north of Cooma in a rural setting 8km outside the village of Bredbo. On route to Macenmist you pass by the historic shearers quarters and the ”Old Bredbo Station” shearing shed which is one of the largest in the region. It also featured in the Warner Bros movie “The Sundowners”.
It’s now only a short distance until you sight the truffle plantation of Oak and Hazel trees and our vineyard. Travel through the homestead grounds and disembark near the truffle barn.
It’s here that your odyssey begins.
One of the best ways to discover the fascination of the black Perigord truffle is to join us on a hunt followed by lunch.
Begin to understand some of the mystic surrounding truffles as you trail truffle dog paws and watch them display their olfactory skills. Once the dog discovers the heady truffle aroma emanating from the soil they indicate the position of the buried treasure. After assessing the aroma for ripeness we then proceed to unearthing the truffle.
After the hunt your taste buds are about to sample one of the world’s most sort after flavours. Your journey from “paddock to plate” commences. It’s now time to sit back, relax and enjoy a leisurely 2 course truffle luncheon in warm rural surrounds.
At the tour conclusion, Macenmist also encourages cellar door sales of its products together with locally produced goods from the region.
