History tour of Kameruka Estate! Friday 2nd July 2021

From: $85.00

Join us for a day of exploring the Kameruka Estate and its surrounding area, a wonderful opportunity to visit this fantastic Estate, which is usually closed to the public.

Kameruka Estate is one of the oldest working sheep stations in NSW. Founded in 1834 the property is now owned and operated by the Moffitt family and is a significant part of Australia’s living heritage.  You will hear the fascinating stories of how, in the late 19th century, Sir Robert Lucas-Tooth, an Australian entrepreneur known for his family’s brewing company, built a whole village and agricultural estate and populated it with large families that operated numerous dairy farms and cheese factories.

The private village of the estate is complete with a cricket oval, village hall, clock tower and residents’ “houses, all of which have been preserved and maintained in near-original condition. The estate also had its own school, the Holly Trinity Church, designed by Edmund Blackett, who also designed St Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney.
