Don’t forget we can also organise your excursion for you. We have a registered travel agency and can source special rates for venues and group accommodation bookings.
We regularly review our charter rates to ensure we are cost-effective for schools. We have set rates for local charters for the next 12 months, to make budgeting for local excursions simpler and more consistent.
And don’t forget our “10-for-11” offer for local bus trips. When we invoice your school for a local charter we record each one and add it to your total.
Download our latest 10-for-11 flyer, which includes a questionnaire for your school to fill out to help us improve our charter services.
What you need to know about school bus chartering
It is important that parents know and understand who your school is hiring for coach and bus charters/excursions. You want to make sure your children will be safe during their journey—no matter how short or long that journey may be.
Some of the questions to ask your school are: (extract from Transport for NSW Chartering a Bus or Coach in NSW brochure)
- Is the operator accredited by Transport for NSW?
- Does the operator have experience providing the charter service required?
- Is the driver licensed and authorised to drive a public passenger vehicle?
- Is the vehicle suitable for the trip?
- Does the vehicle have the features required by your group, ie luggage capacity, seat belts, toilet, etc?
- Does the itinerary allow the driver to comply with Driving Hours Regulations?
- Does the operator have a back up procedure in the case of a break down?
You should be aware that if a school teacher, relative or friend drives a bus or coach hired from a rental company it is not considered a charter service. This means that the driver will not necessarily have a Driver Authorisation, comply with fatigue, drug or alcohol regulations, or that the bus or coach will meet Public Transport Standards.
Sapphire Coast Buslines meets and in most cases exceeds all of the above criteria with our highly experienced Coach Captains, bus drivers and our fully-maintained coaches and buses. We are constantly reviewing our vehicles and systems to provide the highest possible standards in charter services. We believe the significant investment we make in our assets is an important investment in your child’s safety.
