NO Smoking, Vaping or E-Cigarettes on the Bus

When travelling between home and school, students must adhere to various regulations regarding passenger behaviour and the codes of conduct for travel using public transport. It is every student’s responsibility to behave in a manner that ensures the safety and comfort of passengers and drivers. If a student misbehaves on a bus, the bus operator concerned will contact the parents/guardians and the school.

In recent weeks Sapphire Coast Buslines has identified several students using vapes on the school bus.  This is becoming a serious problem and a breach of the Code of Conduct and deemed a Category 1 – Unacceptable behaviour.

5.1 Category 1 – Unacceptable behaviour – Smoking a product e.g. tobacco or a similar substance, including e-cigarettes.  Penalties for this category mis behaviours includes:-

First Offence – Warning (No penalty)

Second Offence – Up to 2 weeks suspension

Subsequent Offence – Up to 10 weeks suspension (permanent suspension may apply for further offences)

We strongly encourage that you talk to your child about the dangers of vaping so that together we can protect the health of all the students travelling on the buses.

Do you know what they’re vaping?
